| Freakin winds. Couldn't finish the flight portion due to the high winds. I'll have to finish the flight portion on Monday.
As for the ground portion it took 5 hours total. One less then what it normally takes...which is actually a good thing. After I finished the 5 hour ground I couldn't help but think that it was a trick. There's no way it could have been that easy. Sure, there were a few hiccups but it was a relative breeze. For a second, I thought that perhaps I had misunderstood about the high fail rate so I asked the FAA examiner what the national average fail rate was. "Oh its really high." Still a little skeptical I asked him "Is it around 90% fail rate?" "Yeah, thats about right." He then went on to explain about some of the worst CFI checkrides he'd given. I couldn't believe some of the stuff he was telling me. Its really scary to think about some of the pilots that are flying around up there. If I had taken the exam with an FAA examiner (not a private examiner who has a much higher pass rate) and I thought it was pretty easy I can't even imagine how bad some of these other candidates were/are. It really isn't that I'm so great or anything. I really am not. It's just that everyone else sucks. Haha. J/K. But seriously, how bad are these guys to have such a high fail rate? Anyhow, according to the examiner the hardest part of the exam is the grueling gound portion. I couldn't help but have a big dumb grin on my face when he paid me a compliment "I don't think you'll have any problems as a CFI." Well, I guess we'll wait and see if thats true on Monday when we finish up the flight part. I just have to remember not to go into it cocky or else I might make some dumb mistakes. The funny thing about all this is that as I went into the exam I had a real calm feeling about it. Constant prayer had really relaxed me. It wasn't the fact that I thought God would make me pass the exam but more of the realization that He had a plan for me. The fact that there was no need to freak out or stress because of my trust in Him was more then enough to build confidence in me. Just looking back on my life I realize that He has had a hand in so much. Its just a matter of me realizing what it is that He's showing me. A skill that I hope to continually develop. Is this what God meant by relying upon Him? I don't know. I'm also wondering if there was something else that He was trying to show me today. Anyway, in summary the ground portion of checkride went well. Flight portion I'll wait to see what happens on Monday. Finally, God is great God is great. Hehe. Oh and if anyone read all this please pray that I will do well on the flight portion on Monday, that the weather will be good, and that the aircraft does not break down. CFI down; CFII, MEI, ATP, and airline job interviews left to go. ^_______^
